    CBD for rheumatoid arthritis

If you have been following me for a while, you know I have been using CBD (cannabidiol) for over two years. It is one supplement I take every day, and have noticed significant benefits to reducing the inflammation and pain associated with my rheumatoid arthritis.

There are three types of cannabinoids I take for my rheumatoid arthritis. Each plays a slightly different role in the body, and I take each for different reasons. Here's a little breakdown of what a cannabinoid is:

Infographic explaining what a cannabinoid is

All my autoimmune warriors know that sleeping can be tough if we're in a flare-up. It can be challenging to change positions, and joints are often burning and stinging. While we need the rest, sometimes lying still can feel worse. That is why I like to take the CBN formula (cannabinol) if I am in a flare-up and need to get deep, restorative sleep. The CBN formula works wonders for insomnia and allows your body to relax and get into that deep sleep state so your body can heal. Even if you do not suffer from an autoimmune disease like rheumatoid arthritis, you can all benefit from a good night's sleep.

In addition to the CBN formula, I take the full-spectrum CBD every day. The full spectrum has been one of my go-to for keeping inflammation low and my anxiety at bay while taking care of two young kids. When I am in a flare-up or feel a little extra pain in my joints, I will take the CBG formula. CBG (cannabigerol) targets pain and inflammation and assists your body in the healing process.

If you are interested in CBD, CBN, or CBG but are unsure about ingesting these cannabinoids but want all the health benefits, I recommend looking into the CBD roller. I use this roller on swollen and tender joints along with my stiff neck for relief. It has genuinely helped relieve tension, and it smells incredible!

If you are looking for a reputable CBD brand, I highly recommend Nuvita CBD. Nuvita CBD is a woman-owned Michigan-based company that uses only organic cannabis, and all batches are third-party tested for pesticides, heavy metals, and molds. They even offer certificates of analysis (COA) on their website, which is very uncommon in the cannabis industry.

    How to make this recipe

    1. The first step to making these Homemade CBD gummies is to add your desired fruit juice (I used 100% pure cranberry juice), and raw honey or maple syrup to a small saucepot. Next, sprinkle the powdered gelatin over top and allow it to bloom or aborb the liquid for about five minutes. Once bloomed, the gelatin will be thick.
    2. Next, transfer the saucepot to the stovetop and gently heat over low until the mixture becomes liquid again. This takes about one minute. Once melted, remove from the heat and add in your desired amount of CBD oil. Gently stir.
    3. Transfer the liquid to an easy-to-pour measuring cup or by using a dropper and fill your molds. Once filled, transfer to the fridge and chill for two hours. Once chilled, remove from the fridge and gently remove the gummies from the molds. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

    Equipment you will need

    • Molds
    • Powdered gelatin
    • Fruit juice of choice. I used organic cranberry juice.
    • Raw honey or maple syrup
    • CBD oil- I recommend Nuvita CBD.

Can I make this recipe without gelatin?

No. gelatin is a translucent, flavorless, protein-based ingredient that must be used in this recipe. Do NOT use collagen peptides as the gummies will not be set up. There are no substitutions.

How long do the CBD gummies last?

Homemade CBD gummies will last around six months in an airtight container stored in the fridge. I have not noticed a decrease in potency over time.

Hi! Everybody is different when it comes to the amount of CBD to use that is why I give a range rather than an exact amount. I personally use 2 droppers full of CBD in this recipe. This gives me quite a few gummies with 0.125 mL CBD in each. Hope that helps!

Hi Agatha, if you use 3.0 mL CBD and have a yield of 24 gummies, this will give you gummies with 0.25 mL of CBD. I do not provide an amount of CBD to use since every person is different.

How do you keep the cbd oil from separating from the rest of the mixture? I made this and the oil is on top of the gummies.
