Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow Fluff is rich and warming. The base of the hot chocolate contain your choice of nut milk and cacao powder. It's naturally sweetened with maple syrup which you can easily adjust to make it as sweet and rich as you would like. The marshmallow fluff, which contains two ingredients comes together in minutes in the mixer. It's the perfect winter time dessert!

If nostalgia had a taste, it would be hot chocolate. Growing up, I drank Swiss Miss- I know all you '90's kids can relate! My favorite was the instant mix with the dehydrated marshmallows. I loved it so much, I would even eat the powdered mix alone. No milk needed. I would make myself a mug of hot chocolate and then stuff as many marshmallows in my cup before my hot chocolate slipped all over my lap, or before my mom would yell at me. Which ever came first.

While I would love to enjoy some Swiss Miss today, it's just not something I can be drinking. It contains corn syrup and modified whey, two food products that I steer clear of. I've been making my own for years and am so excited to finally be sharing my recipe with you!

And who knew marshmallows were so easy to make? This marshmallow fluff contains two ingredients. Yes, you read that correctly-two ingredients! It takes a little work to make but it is so worth it. I promise. At first, the fluff is creamy and smooth and with time, it will stiffen up to soft marshmallows. I love these because you can pick however you want to enjoy them.

    Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow Fluff

This Hot Chocolate recipe is so warm and comforting. It is dairy-free and naturally sweetened with maple syrup.
    Prep Time5 minutes mins
    Cook Time15 minutes mins
    Total Time20 minutes mins
    Course: Dessert
    Cuisine: American
    Servings: 2 people

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups nut milk, I use cashew milk
    • ¼ cup cacao powder
    • ¼ cup maple syrup
    • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
    • Pinch of salt
    • Marshmallow Fluff

    Instructions

    • Place all the ingredients in a sauce pot and place on the stove over low heat
    • Gently stir the hot chocolate mixture until all the ingredients are combined and heated to your liking. Pour the hot chocolate into two mugs
    • Scoop a big spoonful of mashmallow fluff on top of the hot chocolate and sprinkle with cacao powder. Enjoy!

    Notes

-I don't give you an exact amount of marshmallow fluff to use. This is because we all like different amounts of marshmallows. For me, I'd probably use half the batch while someone else may only want a small spoonful

You do realise marshmallow fluff has corn syrup in it?

Yes! That's why I recommend using my marshmallow fluff recipe that is linked within the blog post which is free of corn syrup and sweetened with maple syrup. If you don't follow a grain-free diet, feel free to use any marshmallow fluff recipe but I think mine is the best 🙃 Let me know how they turn out!

Hi! I tried it and it sinks to the bottom. The fluff is too heavy. Would you recommend doing something else to prevent this?
