I love how Sweet Lemon Tahini Salad Dressing is so smooth and velvety. This super simple salad dressing is sweetened with a little bit of raw honey to help cut through the bitterness of the tahini. I also add lemon to help lighten it up since it can be pretty heavy. This is by far one of my favorite salad dressings and I think it will be a favorite in your home too!
I think we are all guilty of loving cheese on salads. Since I don't eat cheese, I'm always looking for something to give me that creamy cheese fix. Sweet Lemon Tahini Salad Dressing adds such a nice creamy texture to salads, I don't even miss the cheese! I really love this dressing tossed with my Winter Rainbow Salad. Winter Rainbow Salad is full of crunchy and hearty vegetables and the creaminess of the tahini really helps smooth everything out. I also like to use this dressing on my Rosemary Lamb Gyro Meat salads or as a dip for Mediterranean Lamb Meatballs.
A couple notes about Sweet Lemon Tahini Salad Dressing:
Not all tahini is created equal!
Tahini is made of roasted and ground sesame seeds. It has a very nutty and earthy flavor and is not very sweet. I have tried many brands of tahini and have found none of them last the same. Some are extremely tangy and bitter while some have a sweeter flavor and less bitter. I buy mine from a local company that makes all sorts of organic nut butters with no added oils or sweeteners. You may have to do some investigating work to find one you really like.
Vegan option:
I use raw honey in my recipe which is not vegan. If you are looking for a vegan option, I would recommend using maple syrup instead of the honey. But please make sure your maple syrup is vegan. Eggs and milk are commonly used in maple syrup production to help filter any "sugar sand" and debris. Take a look at the ingredient list and make sure it does not say "contains milk/eggs."
Sweet Lemon Tahini Dressing
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp tahini
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp honey I like to use raw honey
- ¼ cup cold water
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, add the tahini, lemon juice, honey (or maple syrup if you are making a vegan option), and salt. Stir until combined
- Once mixed, add the cold water and stir until the dressing is smooth and creamy. This can take about 30 seconds to a minute. At first, it may appear that it's not going to mix, but it does come together!
- Use immediately or store in an air tight container until ready to use
